How to find the best deal on a new home
This really isn't one of those time where we get to see, "we have all been there" because the facts are not everyone has purchased a home before. But nonetheless buying a home is still one of the most sought after things in the world today, especially in the U.S since we liken it to the 'American Dream'. You know, with apple pie in the window sill while the kids play in the neighborhood on their bikes and scooters, that dream. The real question though is how do you know when you have found the right home for you? Square footage, appearance, amenities, HOA, school districts, the list goes on and on with things to consider when buying and it can be very daunting. So here we are to save the day. Where do we start?
If there is one thing we could tell you that absolutely remains true no matter what, you need to be looking to buy the worst house in the best neighborhood. Cue the sad, deflating music right? Here me out. The worst house in the BEST neighborhood. You want to surround yourself with high comparable values because if all the other houses similar to yours are selling for 200k, then you should be able to make some significant improvements to your cheaper, 'worst' home and then all of a sudden you might have the best house in the best neighborhood and you get to reap the benefits of the profits. Some of you are probably saying to yourself, "but I don't want to buy a house just to do a bunch of work to it, that defeats the purpose". And listen, I get it. Not everyone wants to build that sweat equity and that's okay. Just remember that a house is very often an appreciating asset, meaning it will build and increase its value over time, especially if you are willing to do the work to make it better. Just make sure you get a driveway big enough to accommodate those big trucks that are supplied by your local moving companies.
Okay so now we know the number one rule, next on the list is going to be for the younger couples or families that aren't done having kids, but you will want to buy more house than you currently need today. If you're entire family could fit a 2 bedroom 2 bath, we are gonna tell you to get the 3-4 bedroom because you never know when little Timmy or Susie could be getting a baby brother or sister and you will want the extra room so they don't have to share. This tip might seem like common sense to most people but most potential buyers overlook this too often and then 2-3 years down the road they are regretting not having enough room. This concept does not apply only to bedrooms though, keep other things in mind like does the home have a play room where your kids can get wild and crazy with all their toys? How large is the back yard and will it be big enough if you add a child or a pet? We truly can't put enough value in really considering how much space you might need in 2-3 years rather than how much room you need for now. Side note, fellas this is a really good time for you to try and sneak in a man cave and justify it with just needing the extra space for one day down the road. You're welcome!
For our third and final tip we are going to break down our favorite subject and that is how are you getting from home A to home B? Well most people think, we will just get a rent a truck, bribe our friends with pizza, beer, wine, etc and then we can spend a day and a half cussing each other, fighting around corners carrying heavy items (pivot), and call it good. But we say NO MORE! There is absolutely a better way and we suggest hiring an Oklahoma City moving company. We might know a guy ;). Anyway, here us out on this one. Hiring movers can eliminate stress, confusion, and also it can save those precious breakables and precious items because likely they are using protective materials to cover your goods. Most moving companies in OKC and around the nation are insured, bonded, licensed etc so you can be sure you aren't getting this weeks latest criminal release and then letting them case your home to steal all your stuff. While most can be trusted, we do suggest doing your research and checking reviews before pulling the trigger and hiring someone, you can never be too safe right? Of course we must be a little biased right? We suggest Strong Brothers Movers, movers Oklahoma City can trust with their personal belongings. Locally owned and operated, family owned with family values, discounts for military members and veterans, and so much more. Call us today to schedule a move!
